She Guevara's Fashionista Diaries.

Che-sus Christ, you want to be revolutionary, soapnet? How 'bout using your heads for something besides a beret rack and come up with a original thought? When executed by the Bolivian Special Forces, Che was shot several times and his hands were amputated. But that's nothing compared to the torture his image has been subjected to by American Capitalist Pigs! Put down those damn bonbons and rise up, soap opera watchers! Revolution is calling!
(tip from JJ, the Mag Hag)
previously in fashion is stupid:
1. Introducing the most Douche ever splattered on a Polo shirt.
2. DIESEL woos fcuk hoi polloi.
3. Gays don't shop Daffy's.
4. To fight diarrhea, Heatherette designs shoe that looks like clown diarrhea.
5. Dakota Fanning for Marc Jacobs.
6. Jigga gettin' all "A River Runs Through It" on us.
7. Jimmy Choo. Shoes to die for.
8. Sailing with Carson & Justin.
9. Cotton Inc. doll ads thread.

As if all the kids wearing Che Guevara t-shirts whose knowledge of CG doesn't extend beyond the trailer to the Gael Garcia-Bernal movie weren't enough.

Fashion advertising and trends baffle me too. The latest being the whole Thom Brown/Pew Wee Herman thing they're pushing for men as of late.

I blogged about this a few weeks back (glad to see there's someone else who's perturbed) - http://tangerinetoad.blogspot.com/2007/06/times-gets-all-snarky-on-us.html - very funny quote from the generally-not-very-funny NY Times in there.

It's ironic and rather shameful (as is the industry...) but on top of that, isn't the "che" thing getting a bit tiresome?

ps I discovered your blog last week - at last!

I gotta disagree with you 100%. This ad works! Clean graphics and multiple cultural/media references ... Besides, where else will this generation learn about Che?

I agree, but for the record it is from SOAPnet the soap opera rerun cable channel, not soap.net. Actually it's pretty funny that their url is www.soapnet.com

I agree, Che doesn't belong on t-shirts and pajamas...

absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
wear a Hitler t-shirt

revere a mass murderer
proudly show your ignorance

absurd thought -
God of the Universe thinks
let's PLAY communism

pretend to fix the world
by destroying it

Capitalists Selling Communism
